Our venue is Waurn Ponds Estate, located on Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus in Geelong, Australia.
To assist with your preliminary planning:
- Geelong is approximately one hour from Melbourne by car, bus and train.
- February in Australia is summer. Average maximum daily temperature in Geelong at this time of year is 25C/77F – perfect to make the most of your stay in Australia!
- We suggest if you’re travelling from overseas that you plan to arrive no later than the morning of Monday 16 February and depart no earlier than the evening of Friday 20 February to adjust to the time zone and take full advantage of the week of meetings and activities.
- To further maximise your trip, please be aware that the Australasian Society for Health and Behavioural Medicine annual conference will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, in the week before the PSAD meeting. Additionally, academic visits to the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes are possible (see below).
Academic visits at the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes (ACBRD)
Meeting delegates may want to think about extending their trip to Australia with an academic visit to the ACBRD.
The ACBRD provides a strong national focus for applied behavioural, psychological and social research in diabetes, to inform policy and practice, and improve the health and quality of life of all Australians affected by diabetes.
We have a diverse and energetic team, spanning multiple diabetes-related research areas, backgrounds and research methods. We welcome visitors from all career stages and research backgrounds.
Our open plan office at Diabetes Victoria, in the heart of Melbourne, offers desk space as well as private consulting rooms, for short or long visits. The Deakin Downtown campus and our campuses at Burwood and Geelong also offer great spaces to work and connect.
We already have a few academics and PhD students who have scheduled to visit.
Please submit your expressions of interest via email to Jane (jspeight@acbrd.org.au) and Danni (d.bellu@acbrd.org.au).
