PSAD-Sanofi Travel Fellowship

The PSAD-Sanofi Travel Fellowships enables a PhD student or post-doctoral researcher to travel and stay at another institution in order to learn specific techniques or skills required for the advancement of their psychosocial diabetes research project and not available at their home institution. The home and/or the host institution must be based in Europe or North-America, both must be non-profit and each must be in a different country. Applicants must be a member of the PSAD and employed at their home institution during their award.

The winners of the PSAD- Sanofi Travel Fellowships 2019 are:

Linda T. Muijs, MSc (Ph.D. candidate) from Amsterdam University Medical Centres (Amsterdam UMC) the Netherlands who will travel to King’s College London, UK. She is developing and testing the self-help app MyDiaMate to improve the mental fitness in adults with diabetes. From this perspective, she is interested in the way the research group at King’s College develops, validates, and implements their interventions.

Tiziana Bufacchi, Senior Clinical Psychologist, Paediatric Consultation and Liaison Program at Perth Children Hospital (PCH), in Western Australia, will travel to Viterbo UOS Centre, Italy. At Viterbo UOS Centre, psychological / psychoeducational interventions are routinely scheduled as part of the patient’s “therapeutic education program”. The expertise of the group at Viterbo Center will increase her academic knowledge on Group Intervention with T1D, improve participation in the A C T Group project which will be  delivered in PCH as a Pilot in late 2019 and enhance additional practical applications in the community .
